Gear Jammers Car Club History
The Gear Jammers Car Club of South Baldwin County was first organized on Dec. 17, 1957 in Robertsdale,
AL. The first meeting was held at the old Robertsdale Theater (now the NAPA Auto Parts store
warehouse). The club was both a "Rod" and "Customs" club as the charter members had both types of cars.
There were a number of original cars, but, most had souped up engines. All the members went to the Drag
Strip in Pensacola, FL and did pretty good on their runs. They also participated in impromptu races on the
back roads in and around Silverhill, AL. There were eleven members, most from Silverhill. The first "hot rod"
built in Silverhill is still running and is being rebuilt at this time (Aug 2010). The owners are David and Sybil
Lindell of Loxley, AL. The car was originally built by Eric Hallberg and later sold to the Lindells. The club
was active for five or six years. As the original members grew older and got married or enlisted in the military,
they lost interest in cars and the club and the club died out by 1965.

Current Gear Jammers Car Club
The club was reorganized at the Mama Lou's Restaurant, in Robertsdale, AL, on Jan. 6, 2007. Twenty two
people attended the meeting, and twenty joined the club that night. The club has grown each successive year
and has now reached sixty five plus members.
We have to thank James Walton, John Chappell and Larry Bryant for the club's revival into the new Gear
Jammers Car Club of Baldwin County. The club now meets once each month at a dinner meeting at some local
area restaurant. Our club is very active with car shows, cruise-ins and activities supporting community
projects and those that support our Veterans.
Our primary projects include:· Christmas for men and women at the William F. Green State Veteran's Home,
Bay Minette, AL (and other Veteran's Home events and projects) · On-going donations to the Honor Flight
Program which flies WW II Veterans to the National WW II War Memorial in Washington, D.C.
The Gear Jammers Car Club has many members that are veterans and they are proud of their service to our
country. The club also exhibits a strong belief in God and Country, and is supportive of members, who, from
time to time, may need assistance.
The club is open to anyone who owns and drives, or is building, a car twenty five years of age or older.
Special cars (either modern classics or muscle cars) are included as voted on by existing members at the time
of application.
